Hyeonseo speaks with Sky News

Hyeonseo Lee, President of Vision North, spoke to Sky News Tonight’s Dharshini David on July 4, 2015, about her escape from Kim Jong-un’s regime and raising international awareness of North Korean human rights situations.

Dharshini: “Having been through all those painful memories and some of the things you describe in your childhood as well are just awful executions that you witness for example. Why did you decide to write about it[your book] and talk about it to the whole world because that must be difficult.”

Hyeonseo: “I think the world knows about North Korea and then they know about the Kim regime, the dictators, and then they [are] always talking about nuclear or missiles about North Korea. But many of them forget about North Korean citizens, the ordinary people. I wanted to raise awareness by writing my book, so I want to let people know and inspire them to get involved in some ways to help North Koreans, including those in China.”
